Wildlife disease surveillanceHannah Vance, Hannah Gill, and Haley Goehring (left to right) are assisting with an ongoing study to survey for Thelohania contejani in Ohio crayfish. The ladies recently presented at the Society for Freshwater Science JASM conference in Grand Rapids, MI. Vance graduated in May 2022, and Gill in Goehring are rising seniors who have recently completed their Capstone Experience. Gill completed an REU experience at Auburn and Goehring an internship experience at Dawes Arboretum.
Gill and Goehring are wrapping up the sequencing efforts for the crayfish project this semester. The duo will also be continuing their molecular ecology research on a couple of additional projects. Gill will be collaborating with Dr. Ken Oswald and myself on darter hybridization and Goehring will help our lab begin snake fungal disease surveillance in Hardin Co. this semester. |
